Registration Open Now For Boys & Girls Rites Of Passage Workshops
Workshops Saturdays Sept. 13-Dec. 13 At West Las Vegas Arts Center
Registration is open now for the city of Las Vegas Rites of Passage 13-week workshop series for boys and girls ages 10-16. The boys’ workshops will be held Saturdays, Sept. 13-Dec. 13, from 1 to 3 p.m.; girls’ workshops will be held Saturdays, Sept. 20-Dec. 13 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. These workshops are designed to develop responsible young adults by providing the necessary understanding, tools and skill sets to empower, develop and enlighten youth with a celebration of the natural transitions that all humans experience in a journey towards adulthood, based on the seven principles of KWANZAA — Unity, Self-Determination, Collective Work, Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose and Faith. Workshops will be held at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. A registration fee of $42, as well as a completed online registration is required.

- Attitude Media
- Conflict Resolution Puberty
- Healthy Relationships Self-Respect
- Cultural Awareness Spirituality
- Decision Making Education/Careers
- Grooming Personal Safety
- Hygiene Image Portrayal
Registration is open until full. No workshops are scheduled for Nov. 29. The community is invited to witness the crossing over ceremony upon completion of the Rites of Passage workshops, scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, during the KWANZAA celebration at the West Las Vegas Library Theatre at 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd.
