Las Vegas City Council Approves Bryan Smith As Next City Auditor
Smith Has Been Serving As The Acting City Auditor Since January 2024
At today’s meeting, the Las Vegas City Council unanimously approved the employment contract of Bryan Smith as Las Vegas’ next city auditor. Smith has been with the city for more than 26 years.
Smith has over 34 years of audit experience, beginning his career in Seattle, Washington, as a financial auditor for Ernst & Young LLP. After seven years in Seattle, during which he became a certified public accountant and was promoted to the position of an audit manager, he transferred to the Salt Lake City, Utah, office of Ernst & Young. In 1999, Smith was hired as an internal auditor with the city of Las Vegas.
He graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Accountancy in 1990. He is a certified public accountant in Nevada and Washington, and is a certified fraud examiner.
During his employment with the city of Las Vegas, he has worked as an auditor, senior auditor, and audit manager to improve the city’s operations and internal controls through audits of city departments. Smith replaces previous City Auditor Radford Snelding who retired last year.
