No Parking On Garage Ramps
Parking Enforcement has begun to enforce no parking on the garage ramps at 500 S. Main St., the City Hall Parking Garage.
- Oversized vehicles which cannot be accommodated in the garage due to their size should commence parking in the oversized spaces located just outside the City Hall Garage in the surface lot on the north side of the garage and west side of Main Street. (See map above.)
- City vehicles which are not oversized must park in spaces identified as "City Vehicle Only" spaces or a standard parking space.
- Please do not park in spaces marked “Reserved Parking,” as they are assigned to a specific person.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our parking facilities safe for all.
ICYMI: Badlands Update Message From The City Manager
March 19, at about 4 p.m., the terms of the Badlands settlement were fully completed, such that the three remaining lawsuits have now been dismissed. As such, the eight-plus-year Badlands saga is now officially over!
I want to thank all of you for your support during this very difficult process. Many of you have offered words of encouragement and provided ideas to help us navigate the financial elements, and this was very much appreciated.
I want to end this message by saying how great it was to see the entire City Manager’s Office, City Attorney’s Office, Mayor, and City Council work so well together over the last few months to get this to the finish line. We succeeded in bringing this matter to a close by working together as a TEAM.
Mike Janssen

City Hall Garage Pedestrian Access Changes
Pending traffic control approval this week, construction activity for Civic Plaza will cause a shift in the walk from the 500 South Main Parking Garage to adjacent work locations. Those headed to City Hall or the Municipal Court will want to use the south crosswalk at Main Street and Goodman Way (formerly Clark Avenue) as you walk from the parking garage (please see map below). We expect this change will last two to three weeks as new sidewalk and cement work is completed. There will wayfinding signage to help guide pedestrians when the detour is implemented. Thank you for your understanding and patience as the Civic Plaza construction is moving into the final phases.
Food Truck Thursday March 27
Ready to try something new? Food trucks offer delicious options 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Clark Avenue in front of Municipal Court. This Thursday's scheduled food trucks are Birria Brothers Tacos & More and Hapahaole’s Hawaiian Street Tacos. Food trucks are subject to change without notice.
Upcoming Dependent Eligibility Verification Audit
The city is committed to providing comprehensive healthcare benefits to eligible employees and their dependents. One way of ensuring these benefits remain financially sustainable and compliant with health plan requirements is to confirm that only eligible dependents are enrolled in coverage.
With approval from the City Manager’s Office, the Human Resources (HR) benefits team will be conducting an ongoing dependent eligibility verification to ensure information is current and accurate. This audit will begin April 1, 2025, with all documentation due no later than April 30, 2025. Any dependents who do not meet the eligibility requirements, or for whom HR staff do not receive current documents, will be removed from city of Las Vegas healthcare coverage.
The week of April 1, all employees enrolled in the city's healthcare benefits who have one or more dependents covered will receive an audit packet in the mail. If you have dependent coverage, and do not receive your audit packet by mail, please check Oracle Self Service to ensure your mailing address is correct and then email HRBenefits@lasvegasnevada.gov or call extension 5432. HR benefits is available to answer any questions and provide assistance throughout this process. We appreciate your cooperation in helping maintain the integrity and affordability of our healthcare benefits.

The city’s thematic goal for 2025 is:
Through December 2025, the city will continue to focus on employee wellness by providing opportunities to enhance the physical, emotional and financial well-being of all staff.
This week we focus on finding parenting support with peers in the workplace.
|
Finding Parenting Support with Peers in the Workplace
Balancing work and parenting can be challenging, but finding peer support at work can make a significant difference. Research shows that employees with strong social connections in the workplace are 50% more satisfied with their jobs and experience lower stress levels. Connecting with fellow parents can provide emotional support, practical advice and a sense of community, helping to reduce burnout and improve overall well-being.
Why Peer Support Matters
Workplace support for parents leads to:
-
Better Work-Life Balance – Employees who engage in peer support report higher job satisfaction and lower stress.
-
Increased Productivity – Parents who feel supported are more engaged and less likely to experience absenteeism.
-
Stronger Mental Health – Social connections at work are linked to a 40% lower risk of depression and anxiety.
How to Connect with Other Parents at Work
-
Join or Start a Conversation – Studies show that employees with strong peer relationships at work are seven times more likely to be engaged in their jobs (Gallup, 2021). Join our Teams Group at Blooming Together: Parenting Resource Collective | General | Microsoft Teams or email wellness@lasvegasnevada.gov to be added to the Teams Group.
-
Attend Family-Friendly Events – Workplace initiatives, such as parenting workshops and networking events, provide opportunities to build connections. Our wellness team offers "Lunch & Learns" and workshops on family support, and Wellness Wednesdays to provide a monthly place for positive social interaction with your peers.
-
