Project To Extend Sheep Mountain Parkway North To Kyle Canyon Road And Repave Kyle Canyon Road Section Begins March 17
Paving Of Detour For Kyle Canyon Road Begins Next Week
Las Vegas Paving Corporation will begin a new project March 17, 2025, to build a new two-lane roadway extension of Sheep Mountain Parkway north from Iron Mountain Road to Kyle Canyon Road in northwest Las Vegas. The project also includes repaving of Kyle Canyon Road from Rufus Road to Alpine Ridge Way. Intersections at Kyle Canyon and Iron Mountain roads with Sheep Mountain Parkway will be improved, and the existing trail along Sheep Mountain Parkway will be extended to Kyle Canyon Road.
As soon as a detour roadway for Kyle Canyon Road is paved, motorists should expect reduced speeds and one lane open in each direction between Rufus Road and Alpine Ridge Way on the detour during repaving. See the map.
The entire project is expected to take about nine months and is budgeted at $7.7 million, with funds provided by the city of Las Vegas. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Residents may call 702.218.5435 with questions or concerns.
