City Of Las Vegas TV Celebrates 25 Years!
City’s Government Access Television Station Reveals New Look Today
This month, the city of Las Vegas’ Emmy Award-winning government access television station celebrates 25 years of operation. The station first launched in January 2000 by carrying a live City

Council meeting. Since then the channel has provided over 219,000 hours of community programming.
As part of the anniversary celebration, and because city programming is now viewed on a variety of platforms, starting this morning the station is being renamed and rebranded. Once called KCLV Cable Channel 2 because it could only viewed on cable, the moniker will now be City of Las Vegas TV.
Despite the name change, the station continues to be the community’s connection for information about city services, projects, recreation and more. Along with being shown on cable television and YouTube, the city’s Emmy Award-winning content also now may be conveniently viewed at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Connect.
Www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Connect also features Spanish-language content, social media content from the city’s award-winning team, live content, the latest news in blogs and news releases, and much more.
As part of the 25-year celebration, viewers will notice a different look and feel on the channel, but it will continue to be your community connection. Viewers still will be able to watch programming like “Access City Council,” “City Beat,” City Council and Planning Commission meetings, and more.
Groundbreaking For New Aquatics Center Jan. 16
New Center Will Include Olympic-Sized Pool At Pavilion Center Pool Complex
The city will break ground on a new Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool at 8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Pavilion Center Pool Complex, 101 S. Pavilion Drive. The $18.9 million project includes the new pool, a pool equipment building, restrooms and lifeguard breakroom. The new pool will host local, regional, state, national and international swim meets and provide more opportunities for local swim teams to practice and compete. It will allow the city to add more programming, including additional learn-to-swim and lifeguarding classes. The project is funded through a $1 million donation from the Southern Nevada Sandpipers Swimming Booster Club, a nearly $9 million grant through the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act and city general funds. The Korte Company is the contractor and the city of Las Vegas Public Works department will manage the project. The new pool is scheduled to be complete in the spring of 2026. The existing indoor pool at the complex will remain open during construction.

CLV Cares Recap
Jan. 10 Farmers Market At The Just One Project
Jan. 10, a dozen city employees came together to volunteer at The Just One Project’s no-cost farmers market, supporting their mission to combat food insecurity in our community. At this unique market, community members experiencing food insecurity were empowered to "shop" for their own healthy produce and meat, preserving dignity while meeting essential needs.
In just two hours, we distributed all available food to the many individuals and families who attended. It was an impactful day of service, and we’re proud to support this effort. We look forward to partnering with them again and encourage others to join future CLV Cares events!
Learn more about upcoming volunteer opportunities here.
All social activities and excursions offered to city employees as outlined above are strictly volunteer-based opportunities and are not considered to be events sponsored or hosted by the city of Las Vegas. Check out the @CLV Social channel for other networking opportunities.

Weight Loss: A Holistic Approach to a Healthier You
Weight loss is more than just a number on the scale; it’s a journey of transformation that blends patience, consistency and self-compassion. True, lasting change comes not from quick fixes but from building sustainable habits over time. Instead of chasing fast results, focus on small, realistic goals, like losing 1-2 pounds per week. This allows your body to adjust healthily while setting the stage for long-term success. A balanced approach to nutrition is essential—prioritize whole, nutrient-rich foods like lean proteins, whole grains, healthy fats, and colorful vegetables. Forget the idea of "good" or "bad" foods; moderation and nourishment are the keys to supporting your body. Research from the National Institutes of Health emphasizes that individuals who adopt gradual, consistent lifestyle changes are more likely to maintain weight loss over time compared to those who pursue restrictive or rapid-loss methods.
Equally important is finding joy in movement. Exercise shouldn’t feel like punishment; it should be an opportunity to celebrate what your body can do. Whether it’s dancing, hiking, yoga or strength training, choosing activities you enjoy makes it easier to stay consistent. Along the way, shift your mindset from focusing solely on the scale to celebrating other wins, like improved energy, better sleep or newfound confidence. Practicing self-compassion will keep you motivated, even when progress feels slow.
Ultimately, weight loss is about much more than aesthetics. It’s about feeling better—physically, mentally and emotionally. The real prize lies in improved health, a stronger body, and a deeper connection to your well-being. By embracing balance, joy and persistence, you’ll discover that the journey itself is just as rewarding as the destination.
