Las Vegas City Council Ratifies New Municipal Court Administrator

New Administrator Will Direct Operations At The City Of Las Vegas Municipal Court

At today’s meeting, the Las Vegas City Council unanimously ratified Hans Jessup as the new Municipal Court administrator. City Manager Mike Janssen and the Municipal Court judges selected Jessup for the position.

Jessup previously served as the Municipal Court operations manager, joining the city in March 2024. Prior to joining the city, Jessup served 15 years in Las Vegas as a manager in the Nevada Supreme Court Administrative Office of the Courts. He directed the Nevada judiciary’s implementation of the Uniform System for Judicial Records and the production of the annual report of the Nevada judiciary.

In his new role, Jessup will oversee the operation of the Municipal Court, which is responsible for the adjudication of misdemeanors within the city of Las Vegas. This is a key role in the city’s public safety efforts, and public safety remains one of the City Council’s top three priorities.

Jessup received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in Justice Management from the University of Nevada, Reno, as well as certification as a court manager from the Institute for Court Management at the National Center for State Courts. Additional professional experience includes serving as an assistant court administrator at the Washoe County District Court in Reno, a clerk of the court in Aspen, Colorado and a court clerk and probation officer in Salt Lake City, Utah.
