Vehicular Bridge At City Garage To Open Monday, Dec. 23
Parking Services has been working diligently to merge the 500 S. Main and City Parkway garages into one parking structure called “City Garage.” The two garages are now joined by a vehicular bridge located on the third floor (same floor as the existing pedestrian bridge).
How will the bridge work? Employees and visitors may enter City Garage using any of the entry lanes on either the Main Street or City Parkway side. If you wish to cross over the bridge, you’ll make your way to the third floor. When approaching the bridge, please be cautious, as the gate arm will lift automatically for you; although there are kiosks on the bridge, no additional scanning is required at this time. When you reach the other side of the bridge, the gate arm will again lift automatically for you. So, if one side of the garage has reached capacity, you’ll be able to easily access the other side via the vehicular bridge in lieu of having to drive all the way around to the other side. You also will be able to exit the garage on whichever side you prefer, regardless of which side of the garage you used to enter.
On opening day Monday, Dec. 23, Parking Services will have staff posted on the bridge to assist, if needed. If you have any questions, please contact Parking Services at 702.229.4700.

City Volunteers Support Local Youth at Project 150
Friday, Dec. 13, 12 city of Las Vegas volunteers joined forces to support Project 150 at their Flamingo location. Project 150 serves as a vital resource for local teens, helping them feel confident and prepared to succeed despite challenging circumstances. Thanks to our volunteers’ efforts, the boutique is now more accessible for students in need.

The city’s thematic goal this year is focused on the well-being of our employees — physically, emotionally and financially. This week our focus is on how to relax after an evening workout.
Evening Workouts: The Key to Recovery and Restful Sleep
In her article, Your Evening Workout Wind-Down on Experience Life, Sarah Tuff offers valuable advice on transitioning from an evening workout to a restful night’s sleep. Late-day exercise can be invigorating, but without a thoughtful post-workout routine, it may leave you too energized when you should be winding down. Tuff’s approach provides a clear framework to recover effectively and prepare for restorative sleep.
Tuff shares six essential tips to enhance your evening wind-down:
-
Cool Down: Spend a few minutes gradually easing off your workout to bring your heart rate and breathing back to normal. This allows your nervous system to shift from a state of activity to relaxation, signaling to your body that it’s time to rest.
-
Continue to Hydrate: Ensure you replace fluids lost during exercise to support recovery and overall hydration. Proper hydration also aids in flushing out toxins and replenishing electrolytes essential for muscle repair.
-
Prefuel and Refuel: Fuel up before exercise if needed, and afterward, enjoy a light snack with a balance of protein and carbs to replenish energy stores. Eating at the right time helps your muscles recover faster and prevents post-workout fatigue.
-
Supplement for Sleep: Consider natural sleep aids like magnesium or herbal teas to promote relaxation and improve sleep quality. These supplements can also help soothe muscles and reduce exercise-induced stress on the body.
-
Take a Cool Shower: Lower your body temperature with a quick, cool rinse to help you feel refreshed and calm. A cool shower also reduces inflammation and enhances your body’s ability to recover overnight.
-
Turn Down the Lights: Create a sleep-friendly environment by dimming lights and reducing blue light exposure from devices. This encourages melatonin production, the hormone that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle.
By following these tips, you can maximize the benefits of evening workouts while ensuring they don’t disrupt your sleep cycle. As Tuff notes, the key to a successful wind-down lies in balancing physical recovery with a calm, restorative environment. With these practices, you can wake up refreshed, energized, and ready to tackle the day ahead.
