At today’s meeting, the Las Vegas City Council unanimously ratified two new department directors. Dina Babsky is the new director of the city’s Department of Economic & Urban Development and Gayle Lloyd-Leakos is the new director of the Finance Department. City Manager Mike Janssen selected both for the positions.

Babsky previously served as the deputy director of Economic & Urban Development and was serving as the acting director. Prior to joining the city, Babsky was a technology project manager for the city of Henderson and has private sector experience working as the director of finance for ITT Technical Institute in Henderson.

In her new role, Babsky is responsible for business attraction, expansion and retention as well as redevelopment within the city. Her department plays a key role in working to diversify the local economy, which is one of the City Council’s top three priorities.

Babsky is a certified public manager and received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science degree in information systems management from UNLV.

During her time at the city, Lloyd-Leakos has held roles in accounting operations, strategic planning and the Innovation and Technologies Department. She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance.
