Cybersecurity Tip of the Week
Focusing on Business Email Compromise - a sneaky online scam where bad actors use fake emails to trick people into sending money or sensitive information.
-
Be Cautious: Always be careful with emails, especially if they ask for money or personal information. Double-check, if anything seems odd.
-
Verify Requests: If someone you know emails you about sending money or sharing secrets, call or meet them in person to confirm it's really them and not a hacker.
-
Stay Updated: Keep your email software and computer up-to-date to get the latest security patches.
-
Strong Passwords: Use strong, hard-to-guess passwords for your email accounts.
-
Ask for Help: If you're unsure about an email, ask someone you trust, like a colleague or friend, for their opinion. Always report suspicious emails to your IT department at ReportSpam@LasVegasNevada.gov.
