Employee Benefits Fair Oct. 24-25
Sue Brown and Tammy Counts share what to expect at the Employee Benefits Fair Oct. 24-25.

At City Hall Tuesday, the Benefits Fair is on the second floor. Vendor tables will be in front of Council Chambers, along the hallway to the NOW Cafe and in the cafe. All speaker presentations will take place in Council Chambers. Lunch is offered for those who RSVP in advance.
For logistics and planning purposes, you may attend only one of the days, and we ask that you obtain your supervisor’s approval for which day you will attend and RSVP accordingly using the links below. Be sure to log in to the city network first, and then RSVP.

Rewards Program Helps Small Businesses And Provides Savings For Consumers In City Of Las Vegas
Program Offering $25 Rebate Now Available To Users
Open Rewards is an innovative shop-local program to incentivize customers to support their community's local businesses. Consumers earn 10 percent rewards when they spend money at businesses on the platform (there are currently 106 businesses enrolled). If a consumer spends money at one of the businesses, they will earn 10 percent rewards after their purchase, which can then be applied to a future purchase in the network. Now when people sign up, they are automatically given a $25 reimbursement credit!
To join the free program, consumers may visit https://www.bludot.io/open-rewards-las-vegas to download the Las Vegas Open Rewards app. Some of your favorite local retailers/restaurants are there -- like The Bagel Cafe, Sambalatte, Makers & Finders, and so many more! A list of participating businesses may be found in the app. Businesses interested in participating in the program should visit https://www.bludot.io/las-vegas-business-signup for information on how to enroll.
Matthew Garban Recognized for Exceptional Analysis
SmartLab and the City Manager’s Office extend their appreciation to Matthew Garban, budget analyst in Innovation & Technology (IT), for his recent work to improve budgeting practices within the department. After joining IT earlier in the year, Matthew assessed existing practices and identified issues that were causing the budget to appear as though there was a $1.6 million discrepancy related to software contract expenses. He not only corrected this discrepancy, but also instituted practices that will help to properly account for software contract price escalations in the future, which will assist departments during upcoming budget seasons. Matthew’s commitment to improving existing practices makes him the seventh IT staff member to earn the SmartLab Green Belt certification, which is awarded to staff after they have received all SmartLab training and completed an improvement project. Congratulations, Matthew!
You can learn more about SmartLab, the city’s internal continuous improvement program, by visiting the SharePoint page. You also can request training or support from SmartLab by emailing SmartLabAdmin@lasvegasnevada.gov.
