Feb. 18, 2023
Dear Neighbors,
I’m hoping that your February is going well! We have been busy meeting with constituents and addressing their concerns, learning about projects in Ward 6 and planning exciting events for our community.
If you haven’t already done so, please help our local students and schools by giving back with our Ward 6 Book Drive. During our "Planting Seeds of Greatness" Month, help spread the joy of reading and learning. It’s running through Feb. 21 with two drop-off locations - one at Las Vegas City Hall, and the other at the Centennial Hills YMCA. Look for the big silver canister - you can't miss it!
Our office has received a few requests for our bi-annual shredding event, and I’m glad to invite you to a Ward 6 Document Shredding Event Saturday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. We’ll be in the usual spot by the Centennial Hills Active Adult Senior Center in the east parking lot.
February is National Teen Dating Violence Prevention Month. As a mom and educator, violence prevention is a top priority for me and I’m highlighting Project REAL, a nonprofit that provides free resources to Nevada’s K-12 students, families and teachers. Learn more about teen dating violence and about Project REAL here.
Now that we are half way through February, help out the Ward 6 office and offer any suggestions for what our March “Focus of the Month” should be! Hopefully this February you were able to plant your seeds of greatness and prepare your garden to bloom this year.
As always, if there is anything Team Brune can do to assist you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
At your service,
Nancy E. Brune, Ph.D.

Neighborhood Partners Fund Grants Available
The Neighborhood Partners Fund (NPF) grant program is open to registered neighborhood, homeowners and business associations in all city of Las Vegas wards. It is a competitive grant program with a total of $80,000 available for neighborhood grants this year. On average, Ward 6 receives very little as residents rarely apply, so I encourage and challenge all Ward 6 neighbors to apply!
The NPF, a real “do-it-yourself” program for neighborhoods, allows the city to support citizen creativity, empowerment and responsibility. Applications are open now. The deadline for pre-applications is March 27, 2023, and the final deadline is Sunday, April 30, 2023.
An association may apply for up to $5,000, which must be matched by the neighborhood. At least 25 percent of the match must come from volunteer labor, valued at $29.95 per hour. As much as 75 percent of the neighborhood’s match can be from cash and/or donated supplies, equipment, or professional services. See all the details on the opportunity, deadlines and more at https://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Residents/Grants. Questions? Contact the NPF Program Administrator by calling 702-229-2346 or email to NPF@LasVegasNevada.gov.
