Inclusive Workplace
There have been some questions about the use of pronouns in the city email signature blocks. It has become quite common in diverse and inclusive organizations to add gender pronouns in the email signature. This new “better” practice helps minimize misgendering and is an important strategy towards inclusivity. While this may seem like a small action, it is a huge step in inclusion and visibility for our fellow coworkers, community partners and the citizens we serve. The city of Las Vegas’ pronoun template has been added to the organization’s branding guide and can be found below.
The email signature block is required for employees when sending city emails, but the use of the pronouns is optional. For those who do include their pronouns in their email signature, email Jordan Moore at Jmoore@lasvegasnevada.gov for a small token of appreciation from the organization’s LGBTQIA+ committee.
To learn more about the use of pronouns, and how they fit into the city’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiative, please watch this video from the City Manager’s Office.
