Weekly Update
July 27, 2022
COVID Cases Continue To Decrease
As of the week ending July 25, 2022, we have 19 new confirmed COVID-19 cases reported among city employees. Eight different departments had at least one employee test positive in the last week. This week is our lowest week of reported positives since May 23, 2022.
The illness is still present across the organization right now. Since the pandemic started, the total number of positive cases reported among the city workforce has increased to 1,476. The case count so far for 2022 has now already surpassed the totals of both 2020 and 2021 combined. July 2022 is our second month since the pandemic started that saw more than 100 positive cases among our employees; it is also more than double the July 2021 reported cases.
With the presence of COVID-19 cases in our workplaces, we want to make sure everyone knows when to get tested and what to do if you test positive.
It remains vital that if you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, you stay home and consult your health care provider. Should you test positive for the coronavirus, please notify your supervisor right away, despite the expiration of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) or if you have exhausted your Infectious Disease Leave (IDL). Please note that in order to qualify for IDL, you must have a lab-verified positive result or a letter from your health care provider indicating your result/isolation time frame. Human Resources has a plan in place to make sure work areas are then disinfected and potential contacts are notified.

The Southern Nevada Health District and its partners installed two vending machines that dispense at-home self-test kits at the Regional Transportation Commission’s Bonneville Transit Center (lobby) at 101 E. Bonneville Ave., and the Mesa View Regional Hospital (Emergency Department lobby), 1299 Bertha Howe Ave., in Mesquite. The at-home antigen test kits are free. People who are interested in accessing the tests from the vending machines can register here www.snhd.info/testkit. A PIN will be issued once registration is completed. It is recommended that a telephone number be included, but it is not required. The phone number will become the PIN if it is provided. The PIN will allow people to access any of the vending machines and receive five tests per month.
