City Of Las Vegas Seeks Proposals For Master Plan To Develop African American Museum & Cultural Arts Center In The Historic Westside

July 7 Deadline To Submit Proposals

The city of Las Vegas has posted the new “Request for Proposals 220194-SK” at ngemnv.com, the Nevada Government eMarketplace (NGEM), soliciting written proposals for developing a comprehensive master plan for the development of an African American museum and cultural arts center in the Historic Westside. The deadline to apply is July 7, 2022. The museum and cultural arts center is part of the first phase of the HUNDRED Plan in Action.

The city is seeking qualified firms and/or individuals who have proven experience in museum and cultural institution planning and operations to develop a comprehensive master plan for the development of an African American museum and cultural arts center in the Historic Westside. The master plan should incorporate findings and engagement efforts to date, and should provide clear direction that will allow the city, along with the community, to move immediately forward into implementation. The master plan should be comprehensive and all-inclusive of considerations to develop a clear vision, identify how that vision will be realized, explore location alternatives and determine the best location to deliver the vision, establish clear floor plans and experience explanations and explore how the museum and cultural arts center can be funded and delivered in a timely manner.

“This request for proposals is the next step in our plans to improve and redevelop the Historic Westside,” said Ward 5 Councilman Cedric Crear, who represents the area. “A museum and another cultural arts center will provide additional jobs and lead to increased tourism and business opportunities – and more prosperity for our residents.”

Those interested should visit NGEM online at ngemnv.com to review and respond to this solicitation. Questions about this project should be directed to Steve Kessler at skessler@lasvegasnevada.gov. Persons with a disability may request accommodations or assistance to participate in the solicitation process by contacting Purchasing & Contracts at 702-229-6231 or 7-1-1 (TTY). To insure the city is able to meet your needs, please submit requests for accommodations or assistance at least two business days in advance.
