City Of Las Vegas To Offer Uber Staging Area At City Hall Garage

Program Allows Uber Drivers To Access Garage To Reduce Traffic Congestion

The city of Las Vegas is working to ensure that curbside congestion is managed while providing safe and convenient transportation availability. Today a new staging program will be available for drivers operating on the Uber app at 500 S. Main St.

The program gives drivers a free place off the city’s busy streets to wait for a ride request, use a restroom or connect to Wi-Fi services.

The City Hall Garage is located close to the busy Fremont East Entertainment and 18B Las Vegas Arts Districts, as well as the Fremont Street Experience and other downtown attractions.

Drivers with Uber can gain access to the garage by registering and verifying their status as a driver through their phone. Upon verification, drivers can download an app, which provides access through Bluetooth or with a digital barcode in the app.

This program is part of the city’s initiative to help ease congestion and manage curb space used for passenger pickup and drop off. The staging area joins the curbside management program, in partnership with Cox Communications, on Main Street outside The Plaza Hotel-Casino. Both programs demonstrate new technologies that are being developed to improve the downtown experience for visitors and drivers alike.
