Two-Alarm Fire Destroys Apollo Market On Jones Boulevard Feb. 24
Cause Of The Blaze Is Under Investigation
Las Vegas firefighters fought a two-alarm fire at the Apollo Market on North Jones Boulevard early Thursday morning, Feb. 24. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reported injuries.
Fire dispatchers received several calls at 5:09 a.m. that a building at the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Vegas Drive was on fire. When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were showing from the roof of a commercial building that contained two business, Apollo Market and Felipitos restaurant. Because of the intensity of the fire, a second alarm was requested. In total, approximately 25 fire units with 60 firefighters responded to the blaze.
It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control. Within three hours, it was out except for a few remaining hot spots. The market is a total loss; the restaurant had moderate water and smoke damage. A damage estimate was not available yet.
