COVID-19 Cases Decline
Cases of COVID-19 among city employees took a significant drop in the last week. There were six positive employee cases reported over the last seven days. This compares to 13 cases last week. Nine employees are awaiting test results. The number of city employees to contract the coronavirus since the pandemic first started now stands at 622. Two city employees have died from symptoms of COVID-19. Several others needed hospitalization.

It remains vital that if you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, you stay home and consult your health care provider. Should you test positive for the coronavirus, please notify your supervisor right away, despite the expiration of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) or if you have exhausted your Infectious Disease Leave. Human Resources has a plan in place to make sure work areas are then disinfected and potential contacts are notified.
Vaccination appointments are available statewide. To schedule an appointment in Southern Nevada:

Moderna Booster Interest Survey
The Office of Emergency Management would like employee feedback on whether or not they should offer the Moderna booster shot, when it is approved and available, at city locations.
If you received the Moderna brand COVID-19 vaccine, please take this short survey by Friday, Oct. 22, to help us plan for the right amount of resources.
Free Flu Shots
The city is pleased to offer free flu shots for employees covered under city-sponsored health plans. Employees will need to bring their HPN/SHL health insurance card and city badge to receive the shot. The high-dose senior formulation shots for those over the age 65 also will be available.
Employees covered by Teamsters/Fire Trusts will need to contact their providers for flu shots made available through those plans.
Top Priorities
Do you know what the City Council considers the top priorities for the city? Did you know every city employee plays a role in fulfilling those priorities?
It’s true, and all of this is laid out in our organization’s Strategic Plan. Before you glaze over at the sound of the phrase, we created a short video that explains the plan and how we hope to accomplish the priorities. You’ll hear from City Manager Jorge Cervantes, Chief Community Services Officer Lisa Morris-Hibbler and Strategic Initiatives Manager Dina Babsky.

2021 Virtual Benefits Fair and Open Enrollment for Benefits
The Benefits Fair will once again be fully virtual this year, which means you can learn about the city’s benefits on demand, at your own convenience. The city’s benefits vendors have provided pre-recorded presentations; these will be available on the Employee Portal next week.
Open Enrollment for 2022 benefits will be available through Oracle self-service Nov. 1-19. As in previous years, if you do not wish to make any changes to your benefits, you don’t need to do anything. However, Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts need to be updated and enrolled in each year.
