Sun City Summerlin Home Damaged By Fire June 8

Two Occupants Are Displaced, American Red Cross Assisting

A Sun City Summerlin home was damged by fire Tuesday morning, June 8. No one was home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no reported injuries.

Initial calls at 7:43 a.m. June 8 stated a vehicle was on fire in the driveway of a home at 2817 Brianwood Court and the fire was spreading to the one-story house there. When firefighters arrived, they found the garage fully involved with fire, heavy smoke coming out the attic vents and a car on fire in the driveway.

The fire burned its way into the attic above the garage. Firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to the main living area of the home; nearly all contents were saved except for what was in the garage.

Fire investigators determined the fire started in the garage and spread to the car in the driveway through windows on the garage door. The garage was gutted, attic was damaged, interior of the home had some water and smoke damage, and the vehicle in the driveway was destroyed. Damage was estimated at $250,000.

Firefighters rescued a dog that was in the house. Since no one was home, a neighbor took the dog to an animal hospital to be checked out. The dog appeared to be fine.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The occupants had no idea what in the garage might have started the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting the two displaced adults.

There were no reported injuries during the incident.
