 Las Vegas Firefighters Kept Busy Wednesday Morning, June 2

Crews Respond To Three Working House Fires In Four Hours

 

On what was forecast to be one of the hottest days so far this year, Las Vegas firefighters were kept busy Wednesday morning, June 2, responding to three working house fires in the city within a four-hour period. One firefighter suffered a minor injury. There were no reports of any injuries to any of the occupants of the three houses.

 

The first fire occurred at 8:57 a.m. at 6235 New Wood Lane in the northwest part of the city. When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were visible from the roof of a two-story house. Firefighters found fire in the attic. They were able to confine most of the damage to the attic. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The occupants told firefighters that they were going to stay with friends.

Firefighters were then called to 904 Robin St at 9:31 a.m. On arrival, heavy smoke and flames were showing from the roof of a one-story house. There was heavy fire in the attic of the house. Firefighters were able to keep most of the damage in the attic; there was some damage to the first floor.

 

One firefighter suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to the hospital to have it examined.

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The American Red Cross is assisting the four adults in the house who are displaced due to the fire damage.

Firefighters then responded to a fire in the attic of a vacant, one-story house at 414 S. 16th St. at 11:42 a.m. Flames were showing from the roof on arrival. Firefighters were able to quickly put the fire out. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house was vacant, but being used by squatters.

There is an Excessive Heat Warning in effect for the city for the next three days, starting today. It was already very hot when the three fire calls came in.
