Las Vegas City Council Ratifies New Human Resources Director

Longtime Las Vegan Has Experience In Public And Private Sectors

At today’s Las Vegas City Council meeting, the City Council unanimously ratified Vince Zamora to serve as the city’s new Human Resources director. Zamora has been serving as acting director of Human Resources and was previously the department’s deputy director. He was selected for the position by City Manager Scott Adams pending council ratification.

Over the past year, Zamora has been responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Human Resources department, as well as working closely with city leadership on collective bargaining negotiations, executive recruitments and COVID-19 response.

Zamora joined the city in 2010 as a Human Resources administrator but another public agency recruited him away from the city in 2012. He returned to the city in 2015 and was subsequently promoted to manager, and then to deputy director of Human Resources.

Starting his human resources career as a personnel clerk, Zamora has held positions of increasing responsibility from manager through director of Human Resources in the public sector, and vice president of Human Resources in the private sector. Working for such organizations as CIGNA, Sierra Health Services, the city of North Las Vegas and Focus Property Group, Zamora has earned a reputation as a creative and innovative leader.

Zamora has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1994 and has served on the Board of Directors for the Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center and the Make a Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada. Zamora and his wife Tina have two children, Blake and Felicia, and are the proud grandparents of Kinkaid and Veronica.
