Updated Open Data Portal Makes It Easier To Find City Information
The Refreshed Portal Continues The City’s Commitment To Transparency
The city of Las Vegas has updated its open data portal to make it more convenient for those looking for the city’s budget, financial and mapping data, and more. The information can be found at http://opendata.lasvegasnevada.gov.
The city is committed to providing transparency and accountability to the public. The updated portal is easier to navigate, provides new tools like dynamically generated Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), allowing for two applications to talk to each other without manual steps or code modifications as data changes within the portal. The portal also offers data downloads and global site search capabilities.
In addition, the portal links to the city’s transparency webpage that includes audits, employee salaries, community demographics and public records search and request functions.
The updated open data portal is built on the city’s existing Esri, ArcGIS Online platform, saving the city more than $160,000 annually. This collaboration with Esri is one of the first in the nation and helps to maintain the city’s number-one ranking in the U.S. City Open Data Census, outranking 265 other cities nationwide.
