Two Victims Found Deceased During Fire In House – Sept. 2

Incident Is Under Investigation

At 8:52 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 fire dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls that the garage of a house was on fire at 1745 Yellow Rose St. (Vegas/Decatur). When firefighters arrived on scene smoke was showing from a one story wood frame/stucco house. Bystanders also told firefighters that they believed people were still inside the house.

Two teams of firefighters entered the house, one to attack the fire and the other to search for any victims. The attack team found a pickup truck on fire in the garage. The fire was quickly extinguished. At the same time the search team was searching the house which was filled with dark smoke almost to the floor. As they searched they found two victims in a rear room which appeared to be a bedroom. After it was determined the victims were deceased, they were left in place for investigators.

Firefighters made sure the fire was completely out and made sure that all the smoke was out of the house for investigators.

In the city of Las Vegas, anytime a deceased person is found during a fire, the investigation is conducted by three agencies: Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Arson Investigators, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Investigations and the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Currently the incident is under investigation by the three agencies.

No damage estimate was determined, that will be done once the investigation is complete.

There were no injuries of first responders during the incident.
