Deputy City Marshals Seek Public’s Assistance
Investigators Working To Identify Those Responsible For Vandalism In Alyn Beck Memorial Park
The city of Las Vegas deputy city marshals are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person or persons in a case involving the destruction of approximately 25 trees at Alyn Beck Memorial Park, 9220 Brent Lane. Photos of the damage can be found here.
On the morning of April 16, 2020, two city marshals were conducting a property check of Alyn Beck Memorial Park when they noticed several trees laying in the parking lot. Upon further investigation, they discovered about 25 trees had been destroyed. Some were snapped from their base while others had branches sawed off and left on the ground. Support wire and branches were also found in trash cans around the park.
The value of each tree is $2,200. The approximate value of the 25 trees is $55,000.
Alyn Beck Memorial Park was open on January 31, 2020, in honor of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer who was ambushed and fatally wounded while on duty on June 8, 2014. The park features natural turf sports fields, a playground, water-play area, basketball court, shade ramadas, trees and benches.
Criminal investigators with the city of Las Vegas Department of Public Safety are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible. Anyone with information is asked to call the Department of Public Safety at 702.229.3223.
