Las Vegas City Council Ratifies New Youth Development & Social Innovation Director

New Director Has More Than 25 Years Of Experience In The Las Vegas Valley

 

     The Las Vegas City Council unanimously voted to ratify Tammy Malich as the city’s new Youth Development & Social Innovation director at today’s City Council meeting.

 

     Malich is a native Las Vegan who comes to the city with more than 20 years of experience in educational leadership, and 29 years of total educational experience in the Clark County School District.

 

     Most recently, she has served as an assistant superintendent with the district. Over the past two years, she has been the point of contact between the district and the city for all partnership initiatives. She has worked side by side with city staff on projects such as Reinvent Schools Las Vegas, Batteries Included and Innovations in Education.

 

     “I am very excited to start my next chapter at the city of Las Vegas,” Malich said. “I look forward to continuing the partnerships the city has started to provide excellent educational opportunities for young people before and after school.”

 

     As head of Youth Development & Social Innovation, Malich will oversee such programs as Safekey, Strong Start Academies, the Mayor’s Faith Initiative and ReInvent Schools Las Vegas.

 

     Malich holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from National University, and master’s and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
