Two Downtown Street Improvement Projects Set To Begin March 18

Traffic Restrictions Planned On Third And Sixth Streets

The Third Street and Sixth Street improvement projects get underway on Monday, March 18, and motorists can expect delays downtown during construction.

The $19.6 million Third Street Project will take place between Charleston Boulevard and Bonneville Avenue during the next 13 months, while the $5.5 million Sixth Street Project will take place between Bridger and Stewart avenues during the next nine months.

Both projects will transform these portions of Third and Sixth into complete streets, rehabbing the roadway, adding new sidewalks, updating traffic signals, and making architectural and landscaping improvements.

Alternative routes during the construction include Main and Commerce streets, Las Vegas Boulevard and Seventh Street.

The projects are part of the city’s ongoing pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects currently underway throughout the downtown area.

Las Vegas Paving is the contractor on the projects. Both projects are being paid for by Fuel Revenue Indexing taxes and the city of Las Vegas, with the Las Vegas Valley Water District also paying for a portion of the Sixth Street Project.
