Las Vegas’
KCLV-TV Channel 2 Wins Third Emmy Award “Chief For A Day” Honored
With Regional Emmy Award June 16
KCLV-TV Channel 2, the city of Las Vegas’ award-winning,
government-access channel, won a third Regional Emmy Award from The National
Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Saturday. The station was nominated
for two segments on the city’s news magazine program, “City Beat,” hosted by
Nancy Byrne, and won the Emmy for “Chief for a Day.”
The video was shot by Eric Sorenson and edited by Steven Tyler
Pierce. It follows a 3-year-old boy battling terminal cancer, whose dream was to be a fire chief, as he
visited Las Vegas Fire Station 1. The
Emmy winners were announced June 16, 2018, in Rancho Mirage, California. See
the video online at https://youtu.be/dOSIAsPjczs.
The station’s producers, videographers and editors also won a Regional Emmy
last year for their documentary,
“Ending Homelessness, A Light at the End of the Tunnel.”
“This
is the third Emmy KCLV has won, and it’s always exciting,” said Communications
Director David Riggleman. “It’s an honor for the city to be recognized among so
many outstanding television entries each year. I’m so proud of our team.”
KCLV also was recognized in May 2018 by the
California and Nevada chapters of
the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors with four
first-place STAR Awards, two second-place awards, one third-place and an
honorable mention for its original programming. The STAR Awards recognize
excellence in government programming in Nevada and California.
KCLV Channel 2 features live City Council and Planning Commission
meetings, as well as specials and shows such as “Access City Council, “City Beat,” “Hello Mayor!”
and “Trending Vegas.” These programs can be viewed on the station’s Youtube channel, live on
KCLV-TV Channel 2 and 1002, and online at www.kclv.tv. KCLV also is available now on Apple TV and Roku.
