Mayor Carolyn G.
Goodman, City and Community Leaders Launch New Initiative To Help Improve The
Quality Of Life For All Las Vegas Residents
Mayor’s Fund
For Las Vegas LIFE Provides A Vehicle For Corporate And Philanthropic Partners
To Support Innovative Programs
Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman, city
officials and city leaders today launched a new initiative, the Mayor’s Fund
for Las Vegas LIFE, as a way for the community to support innovative programs
in the city. The
Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE provides a vehicle for corporate and
philanthropic partners from the private sector to support innovative programs that improve the quality of
life for all Las Vegas residents. This fund creates opportunities for
public-private partnerships, as well as donations of cash, time and in-kind
goods and services. By visiting www.mayorsfundlv.org, anyone can support innovative
initiatives that address the city’s most pressing needs.
The Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE
targets specific community needs, with a goal of making Las Vegas a national
leader in four areas: Livability, Innovation, Future, and Education. The
Mayor’s Fund will launch with a core set of initial programs:
· Livability: The Courtyard Campus for Ending Homelessness; Las
Vegas Book Festival; Public Art; and Youth Sports
· Innovation: ConnectHome for equitable internet access
· Future: Strong Future Youth Employment Program
· Education: Strong Start Academies and ReInvent Schools
Nevada Community Foundation serves as the fiscal
agent, receiving all
private donations and providing donors with charitable contribution tax
documentation. The city of Las Vegas
coordinates the Mayor’s Fund
to ensure all programs align to city priorities, effectively leverage community
resources and have the potential to produce measurable results. Other mayor’s funds
are operating around the country with success, as they allow the flexibility and funding to accomplish goals that
cannot be achieved with governmental funds alone.
