Safekey/IGNITE Registration Now Open For 2018-2019 School
Year Register At Back-To-School Events Or City Of Las Vegas Safekey Office
Registration
for Safekey and IGNITE before- and after-school enrichment programs,
for youth in kindergarten through middle school is now open. Registration and enrollment forms can be completed at the
Safekey/IGNITE office, located at 416 N. Seventh St.,
the Safekey or IGNITE program office at the
school your child attends, at many local back-to-school fairs, and at the open house event for your child’s
school.
Safekey/IGNITE registration will be available

Ward 6 Splash Your Way Back-To-School Event
Saturday, Aug. 4, 12 to 2 p.m.
Free and open to the public.
Centennial Hills Community Center/YMCA Pool, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.
Join Councilwoman Fiore at the pool to enjoy swimming, food, raffles, games,
music and community vendors before the school year starts. See the flier.

Ward 1 Theater Thursday and Back-to-School
Fair
Thursday, Aug. 9, 3 p.m.
Free and open to the public.
Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St., 702-229-6383.
Children accompanied by an adult will enjoy a free showing of “Despicable Me
3,” free back-to-school supplies, raffles and popsicles (while supplies last).
Kids are invited to come dressed as their favorite minion. “Best Dressed”
minion will receive a prize. Food will be available for purchase at food
trucks;

Join Councilman Anthony poolside for the annual Back-to-School Party. Enjoy

music, free swimming, community vendors, raffles, activities and more.

event. Children in grades K-5 who are present will receive a backpack
and
supplies from Councilman Crear, while supplies last. Wristbands for

will be given out beginning at 7:30 a.m. and supplies will begin to be

Dula Gym Back-2-School Fair

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is sponsoring this back-to-
school
event. Officers will be handing out the backpacks and supplies. School-
age
children (ages 5-18) must be present to receive supplies. Vendors on site
will

Stupak Back-to-School Fair (grades K-12)
Saturday, Aug. 18, 2 to 4 p.m.
Free and open to the neighborhood.

high school with school identification
can receive supplies and refreshments.
Student must be present to receive
supplies.
The Safekey program
is offered at 69 Clark County School District elementary schools within the
city of Las Vegas. IGNITE is a similar program for teens that is housed in five
middle schools in the city.
There
is an annual $20 registration fee per participant per account for these
programs. The daily cost is $7 for a before-school (A.M.) pass and $10
for an after-school (P.M.) pass. Financial aid applications will be accepted only
at the Safekey/IGNITE office; download the application at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/safekey.
Limited financial aid will be available to qualified applicants.
Safekey
and IGNITE are youth enrichment programs outside of school hours, designed for
children grades K-5 (Safekey) and grades 6-8 (IGNITE). Daily and weekly
scheduled activities include physical fitness, Reader’s Theater, reading time, special events, homework time
and a nutritional afternoon snack.
Payments
can be made one of two ways:

hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Safekey
and IGNITE operate as
pre-paid programs; participants must have a valid pass before they can attend.

school district calendar and operate on days that school is in session.
