Sensory Wall Grand Opening & Barbecue Saturday, June 23

Join Councilwoman Michele Fiore 11 A.M. At Gilcrease Brothers Park

Las Vegas Ward 6 Councilwoman Michele Fiore will celebrate the grand opening of a new sensory wall at the playground at Gilcrease Brothers Park, Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and the neighborhood community has been invited; a barbeque lunch will be offered while supplies last. The park is located at 10011 Gilcrease Ave.

Councilwoman Fiore requested that inclusive playground equipment be added to one or more parks in her ward. The modular sensory play center, manufactured by Landscape Structures, cost $13,700 and was installed by city of Las Vegas staff at the park playground, with rubber safety flooring. Designed to be interactive and accessible to all abilities and ages, the wall is expected to be both interesting and calming to those with autism. The specific modules included in the play center were selected for their interactive features, safety, accessibility and ability to withstand the rigors of the Las Vegas climate.
