New Sewer Rehabilitation Project Began May 21 On Sandhill Road
Project To Last Nine Months
The city of Las Vegas began work May 21 on the
rehabilitation of existing sewers and manholes, as well as the replacement of
one pipe segment, within the city of Las Vegas sewer system. The work is
taking place initially along Sandhill Road between Bonanza Road and Charleston
Boulevard, then later along Charleston Boulevard between Honolulu Street and
Arlington Street, along Lamb Boulevard between Moonlight Drive and Stewart
Avenue, along Honolulu Street
between Charleston and U.S. 95, and along Wyoming Avenue between Sunny Crest
Street and Arden Street. Normal work hours will be Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m.,
with occasional night shifts from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. in nonresidential areas. See
the map. This $4.8 million project will take approximately nine months to
complete.
The work to come on Wyoming Avenue, although
located in Clark County outside city of Las Vegas limits, is to maintain the
lines that send sewage flow to the city’s main wastewater treatment plant,
located on the east side of the valley in Clark County.
Motorists
can expect traffic delays in the area while the work is being done. Initially,
the center turn lane on Sandhill Road between Bonanza and Charleston is
restricted. Safety and maintaining public access will be high priorities during
the work.
Las Vegas Paving is the contractor and the project is being paid
for by the city of Las Vegas Sanitation Fund. Those with questions or concerns during the work should call
702-251-5800.
