New Las Vegas Traffic Signal Set To Go Fully Operational Thursday

Signal Located At Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard / Jimmy Avenue / Mt. Mariah Drive

The city of Las Vegas has completed the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard / Jimmy Avenue / Mt. Mariah Drive. Most of the necessary traffic signal improvements were installed during prior development and roadway improvement projects. The signal will regulate vehicular traffic for the adjacent neighborhood and Las Vegas Enterprise Park.

This traffic signal also will upgrade the current pedestrian school crossing for the West Prep Academy and Matt Kelly Elementary School, and improve pedestrian safety for area residents going to and from the nearby Doolittle Community Center and Las Vegas Enterprise Park. And the new signal will improve the response route for Fire Station 106 and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Bolden Area Command.

Construction was funded through developer impact fees. Due to the high traffic volume along Martin L. King Jr. Boulevard, this traffic signal will be placed directly into red-yellow-green operation at approximately 2 a.m. Thursday, May 3.  There will be no temporary, all-way, red-flash period for this new signal.

City of Las Vegas Public Works staff will be on site Thursday morning to activate the new traffic signal and monitor for proper functioning.
