Durango Drive Pavement Improvements Begin April
18
Work Will Continue Next
Eight Weeks Between Farm Road And Brent Lane
Starting Wednesday, April 18, and continuing
through the next eight weeks, utility adjustments, milling and paving
operations will occur on Durango Drive between Farm Road and Brent Lane. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Traffic generally will be restricted to one lane in each direction north- and
southbound from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each work day. Primary work activities
of milling and overlay repaving will take approximately one week within the eight-week
schedule, subject to equipment availability. Following the
overlay, there will be small work zones while utilities/manholes are raised to
be flush with the new pavement.
Buffalo
Drive and Skye Canyon Park Drive are recommended as alternate routes for north-
and southbound traffic.
Preliminary work was completed last spring and earlier this
year, and consisted of improvements to sidewalk areas to meet federal Americans
with Disabilities Act requirements, milling and overlay of dense-grade
pavement, and removal and reconstruction of deteriorated areas of pavement. The
current work consists of pavement milling, a thin lift overlay, concrete median
islands, a pedestrian flasher at the intersection with Brent Lane, and new
striping. Upon completion of the project, the roadway will have the appearance
and ride quality of a new roadway.
Las Vegas Paving
Corporation is the contractor. City of Las Vegas staff are managing the
project. The estimated cost of the project is $1 million, with funding provided
by the Southern Nevada Regional Transportation Commission’s Fuel Revenue
Indexing tax.
