Pavement Improvement On Maryland Parkway Begins Today

Work Between Stewart Avenue and Bonanza Road Continues Next Five Weeks

Starting today, April 17, and continuing through the next five weeks, utility adjustments, milling and paving operations will occur on northbound and southbound Maryland Parkway between Stewart Avenue and Bonanza Road. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Traffic generally will be restricted to one lane in each direction, northbound and southbound, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each workday.

Las Vegas Boulevard and Eastern Avenue are recommended as alternate routes for north- and southbound traffic.

Preliminary work was completed last fall and consisted of improvements to sidewalk areas to meet federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.  The current work consists of removal and reconstruction of the deteriorated pavement, completion of pedestrian crossing, and new roadway striping.  Vehicle lanes will be reconfigured and bicycle lanes will be installed on Maryland Parkway.  Upon completion of the project, the roadway will have the appearance and ride quality of a new roadway.

Las Vegas Paving Corporation is the contractor. City of Las Vegas staff are managing the project. The estimated cost of the project is $600,000, with funding provided by the Southern Nevada Regional Transportation Commission’s Fuel Revenue Indexing tax.
