 Happy New Year!
I hope you enjoyed your holidays and are looking forward to the new year ahead.
As we are seeing on the news more and more every day, e-bike and e-scooter accidents are on the rise. Clark County has partnered with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and University Medical Center to address riders' habits to help keep our parks, roads, and public spaces safe for everyone to enjoy. Check out the information below.
As always, do not hesitate to email me at DistrictG@clarkcountynv.gov or call my office at (702) 455-3500 with any questions or concerns you may have. You can also follow me on Facebook, Instagram and X.

With the growing popularity of e-bikes and e-scooters, Clark County has partnered with University Medical Center and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to launch a public outreach effort to encourage rider safety.
Clark County Television created a public service announcement with Dr. Seth Ball, a pediatric emergency medicine physician at UMC Children’s Hospital, who has treated many young patients with traumatic injuries related to riding e-devices. UMC reports a 400 percent increase in e-bike or e-scooter-related injuries over the last three years. To date in 2025, nearly 200 patients were treated at UMC for e-device-related injuries, including 30 children.
“The most important thing I can tell parents is if you are going to let your kids ride an e-bike or e-scooter, make sure they wear a helmet every time, obey posted speed limits and never drive recklessly,” said Dr. Ball. “It’s very easy to lose control and hurt yourself or someone else if you are driving too fast or doing stunts or wheelies.”
The TV PSA can be viewed on Clark County’s You Tube channel https://youtu.be/x-P1QEs9CRo and is being shared widely on social media, along with flyers in English and Spanish that outline key rules of the road, including always yielding to pedestrians. Helmets are required for minors operating e-bikes and e-scooters in Clark County, and all devices must be equipped with safety devices such as a bell or horn, and front and rear lights.
Fines for violating Clark County’s e-bike ordinance start at $150 for a first violation, with repeat violations up to $600. Parents and guardians are responsible for paying fines incurred by minors. More detailed information about the County ordinance is online at http://www.clarkcountynv.gov/ebikesafety.

Henderson residents took their task seriously when participating in Henderson Libraries’ tenth Crafting for a Cause program this season! During the annual event, which encourages participants to pick up a free skein of yarn and craft a knitted or crocheted item for a community member who could use a token of kindness, 90 participants completed and dropped off hand-crafted projects, resulting in more than 450 donated winter items to help keep our neighbors warm. This total amount exceeded last year’s contributions by 100 items.
The heartfelt creations included hats, scarves, dolls, and other miscellaneous items. Those benefitting from this year’s Crafting for a Cause program include local nonprofit organizations Friends in the Desert, Living Grace Homes, and the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. At the event’s conclusion, items were sorted, categorized, and bagged by Gibson Library team members and volunteers, then deliveries commenced.
In addition, Henderson Libraries will continue to provide its “Need One, Take One” bin at the Green Valley, Paseo Verde, and Gibson Library locations for patrons who may need a warm item themselves.
Established in 1944 as a single library in Downtown Henderson, Henderson Libraries operates five locations in Henderson, providing free access to materials, programs, and services to meet the diverse and varied needs of the community throughout Southern Nevada. For additional information on Henderson Libraries, including the regular business hours of Gibson Library, visit www.hendersonlibraries.com or call 702-707-2665.
