Another fall season brings with it another new art piece from a Ward Elementary School student to be highlighted on the billboard near Siegfried & Roy Park, and this artwork reveal was a little extra special! Fifth Grader Evelyn Hernandez Ortiz won the most recent contest at her school with a fantastic piece, the theme of which was Dia De Los Muertos, and that’s not all. This is her second time winning the contest! I was happy to recognize her again.
Evelyn received customized doughnuts from Pinkbox Doughnuts, a pillow for her mom, and a crossbody bag designed by Rusty Blossom Designs all highlighting her artwork. Thank you so much to the administration at Gene Ward Elementary School for identifying these talented artists, thank you to Pinkbox Doughnuts for providing doughnuts to all of the attendees and of course, thank you so much to Connell Outdoor Advertising for their partnership each year with this event.
Pick up a free tree for your yard! I’m partnering with the Arbor Day Foundation and the Clark County Department of Environment & Sustainability to give free trees to our Clark County District G residents! Trees help to reduce heat vulnerability of areas, they combat the urban heat island effect, and they can also help you save energy! We’ll be handing out 50 5-gallon trees in front of CT Sewell Elementary School at 700 E. Lake Mead Pkway on November 8th between 3pm-4pm on a first-come, first-served basis. Come on down to pick up a free tree so you can play your part in helping cool down Clark County.

When you run a neighborhood café, boutique, or service shop, you value the number of people who walk through the door. Most small business owners may still rely on a manual head‑count to gauge “how busy we were.” Knowing the ebbs and flows of when customers walk through your doors and where they come from helps business owners understand the value of location data and foot-traffic insights from visitors. To assist small businesses with accessing this specific data, the Clark County Office of Economic Development offers free data reports that provide insights with visitor patterns, behavior, and preferences at or near your business.
Whether you are planning your second food truck, scheduling staff at a busy salon, or sharing company value with a potential investor, foot‑traffic insights turn guesswork into informative and data‑backed decisions.
Foot-traffic insights help businesses and civic stakeholders learn:
- How many people visited your storefront yesterday, last week, or a year ago
- Where they came from and how far they were willing to travel
- How long they stayed and how frequently they return
- Whether a promotion or marketing campaign was effective
- How your foot-traffic stacks up against competitors
