April 2025
 Dear District G Residents,
We have a full slate of events coming up in April and May and I'm hopeful you will be able to join us. You'll see all of our event fliers in this newsletter with details, dates, and times below.
The Original 2025 Spring Job Fair is right around the corner on May 1st. For eight years, I have partnered with Commissioner Tick Segerblom and the EmployNV Business Hub on this FREE hiring event. This year we'll be at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority's North Hall and parking is free! See the flier below for details and use the QR code to pre-register. If you're looking for a job or thinking about a change, make sure to check this out.
Looking for a summer job? Clark County Parks & Rec is hiring lifeguards! The flier below has all the details you need by scanning the QR code. If you have additional questions, call the Hollywood Aquatic Center at (702) 455-8508. Even though all Clark County Rec Center pools are hiring, the specific lifeguard need in District G is the Whitney Water Park located at 5712 Missouri Avenue. Don't wait, summer will be here before you know it.
With Easter on the horizon, a lot of folks purchase cute baby bunnies for their kids. Sadly, once the bunnies grow up or folks don't know how to care for them, there have been reports of people dumping the rabbits into the desert. Since these rabbits are domesticated, there is no way they can survive in our harsh desert conditions. If you do decide to bring home a bunny and you are not able to care for it properly, there are local rabbit rescues that can help either relocate the animal or provide good information on how to care for a rabbit. A couple of local rescue organizations are Bunnies Matter Rescue, the Animal Foundation or the Nevada SPCA.
As always, do not hesitate to email me at DistrictG@clarkcountynv.gov or call my office at (702) 455-3500 with any questions or concerns you may have. You can also follow me on Facebook, Instagram and X.

Wetlands Park held their annual Wetlands Art Day on March 22nd. Over 800 attendees enjoyed various arts and crafts, poetry, free corn on the cob, activity stations, a temporary art installation, 3 art workshops, a wind quintet, a ukelele hero and more! The day could not have been more beautiful. Thanks to the folks that came out to this wonder-filled destination.
Speaking of Wetlands Park, there will be a Sunrise Trailhead/Hollywood Boulevard Clean-Up on April 12th. We're looking for volunteers, so check out the flier below for information and scan the QR code.
Come on out for this month's First Tuesday at Metro's Southeast Area Command to discuss Gangs and Graffiti.

Over the next few months, neighborhoods throughout Clark County will be blossoming with weeping willows, chaste trees, Japanese magnolias and more, thanks to a partnership between the Clark County Department of Environment & Sustainability (DES) and the Arbor Day Foundation. More than simply providing aesthetic charm, the Community Canopy Project—part of Stay Cool Clark County, an All-In Clark County initiative—aims to address rising summer temperatures in the region.
Combined with the first round of Community Canopy tree giveaways last fall, residents throughout the Valley will have received some 4,500 trees to plant on their property. Residents with the greatest need will be prioritized, based on a map of local heat vulnerability.
“Studies have shown shade trees can reduce temperatures by 8 – 12 degrees, compared to blacktop,” said Robert Burgy, sustainability manager with Clark County Environment & Sustainability. “In addition to providing shade for cooling, tree canopy can also help reduce energy costs when providing shade over windows and HVAC units.”
