Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center’s CEO Alexis Mussi with her executive team and myself along with their amazing staff of doctors, nurses, EMT staff, and their many volunteers joined to celebrate Southern Hills’ 20th year anniversary. This occasion highlighted their humble beginnings in the middle of the thriving Southwest area to the current plans to expanding their hospital to increase their services to our community. Congrats for the incredible achievement, Southern Hills, and here’s to many more years of valuable service to our community!

LVMPD’s Office of Community Engagement, Girma Zaid; a leader of the Ethiopian community, Nevada Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Suicide Prevention, Team Jones, and I spoke on the importance of mental health awareness. This event brought valuable community resource partners to members of the Ethiopian community to assist with bringing awareness of being able to seek assistance and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health concerns. Thank you to LVMPD’s Office of Community Engagement and the incredible community partners that came out to join us.

I had the honor of visiting Acelero Learning Clark County Head Start Spring Valley, Elaine Wynn Elementary School, and Roundy Elementary School for Nevada Reading Week! It's wonderful to see such initiatives helping to instill a lifelong love of reading in young students. Thank you to all our Nevada educators for the hard work that you do every day.

Team Jones, and the awesome staff at Desert Breeze Community Center hosted the annual Egg Run. This fun filled evening was filled with many activities for children of all ages such as arts & crafts, food, games, a petting zoo, and don’t forget the many Easter Egg hunts that carried on throughout the evening. Thank you to the hundreds of children and their families for joining us and a huge shout out to the incredible staff of Desert Breeze for hosting such fun filled activities!

Team Jones, and the amazing staff of Aquatic Springs hosted the annual Egg Dive. This fun filled morning was filled with many activities for the young ones. There was many crafts and swimming, as well as breakfast to keep the energy flowing during the day. As the progressed, they host many Easter Egg dives with participants walking away with baskets filled with swimming goggles, swim caps, and lots of tasty treats. After the activities subsided, everyone got to enjoy a family friendly movie to conclude the festivities. Thank you to everyone that joined us and a huge thanks to the staff of Aquatic Springs for hosting the event with us.

Team Jones, and I, along with Spring Valley Area Command’s Community Oriented Policing division, hosted Coffee with a Cop and Commissioner at Afterlife Tea and Boba in Historic Chinatown. Both teams discussed issues that affected the surrounding areas as well as met with community members to build relationships and bonds to improve safety in the area. A huge thank you to our outstanding law enforcement partners at Spring Valley Area Command and to the many community members for joining us at this event.

This year, I’m thrilled to join my colleagues in recognizing the month of April as Arab American Heritage Month. We will be featuring amazing Arab Americans who call Clark County home. Many are community leaders, business owners, doctors, lawyers, and public servants. Thank you for all you do for Clark County. Team Jones recognized the following community members- AYYA Hospitality Group, Clark County Public Works Development Review Manager Antonio Papazian, and Nezar Filou Domine who is the owner and operator of Hedary's Mediterranean Restaurant. Congrats to all of the honorees that were recognized for their achievements and accomplishments.
