Joined by Southern Hills Hospital staff, Commissioner Jones celebrated the new signal at Sunset Road and Quarterhorse Lane, just west of I-215 in the Southwest on October 26th.
This $700,000 project is one of many safety improvement projects around the valley funded by Fuel Revenue Indexing. Since 2014, Fuel Revenue Indexing has partially or fully funded 652 roadway projects totaling more than $2.5 billion, with 418 of those completed. These projects have created more than 16,000 jobs for our community.
Commissioner Jones joined Clark County Parks & Recreation, Real Property Management, and students from neighboring Ries Elementary School break ground on the development of a new park at the southwest corner of LeBaron Avenue and Lindell Road. The park will feature four dog runs, an obstacle course, two age-appropriate playgrounds, five shade structures, a splash pad, a parking lot, and more. Stay tuned for the grand opening ceremony late next year!

As Chair of the Regional T Commission of Southern Nevada, Commissioner Jones happily announced the addition of four new battery electric buses to the fleet! Battery electric buses provide a clean, efficient and cost-effective solution to help support a more sustainable community. These buses were funded thanks to increased federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and NVEnergy's Economic Recovery Transportation Electrification Plan, or ERTEP, funds.

On October 24, 2023 the first cultural district in the history of Clark County was unveiled. Discussions began in December of 2019 and the Little Ethiopia Cultural District was unanimously ratified by the Board of County Commissioners on June 20, 2023. The official designation acknowledges the contributions of the 40,000 Ethiopians who have made southern Nevada their home. Ethiopia, often referred to as the “cradle of humanity”, is known for its diverse heritage, stunning landscapes, and a history that spans millennia. Running along Decatur Boulevard from Twain Avenue to University Avenue, the Little Ethiopia Cultural District will serve as a beacon of cultural diversity and a bridge connecting other communities throughout Clark County.
