Brightline West's high-speed rail project will connect Clark County and Southern California as the nation's first high-speed passenger rail system. The 218-mile, all-electric rail service will include a flagship station located in Clark County, and at speeds of over 186 miles per hour, trains will transport passengers to Southern California in just 2 hours and 10 minutes, twice as fast as the normal drive time.
“Good for the environment and good for our economy, Brightline’s station on South Las Vegas Boulevard will be a significant catalyst for the surrounding area, while creating both critically important construction jobs and permanent high paid positions,” said Commissioner Michael Naft. It's projected to remove 3 million cars from Interstate-15 annually, reduce more than 400,000 tons of carbon emissions each year, and create 35,000 jobs.
Commissioner Naft joined several Nevada leaders on August 18th to announce the project's latest actions and urged U.S. Department of Transportation to award funding. The Brightline West project has now completed the permitting necessary to move forward with the project.

The Southern Nevada Children’s Assessment Center (SNCAC) is a Clark County-operated program dedicated to bringing child abuse professionals together in one location to provide a wide-variety of services to children in need. Highly skilled professionals comprise a multidisciplinary team including child protection workers, law enforcement officers, medical providers, prosecutors, family/victim advocates, forensic interviewers, and mental health professionals. These experts work collaboratively to reduce the amount of trauma children experience, enhance response to child maltreatment, and support the needs of child victims and their families. The Clark County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of a 36,000 square foot property to expand the SNCAC and their services.
Clark County recently rolled out the new "Find My Forever" adoption campaign dedicated to helping children who are available for adoption find their forever home. This program is intended to raise awareness about the adoption and foster process in hopes of reaching a broader audience within our communities, and ensure these children are one step closer to adoption. The "Find My Forever" campaign will highlight a local child in need of adoption every month, and will be featured prominently on FOX5 KVVU, The Las Vegas Review-Journal, and The Las Vegas Review-Journal en Español. Dedicated adoption segments will air on the second Tuesday of each month to ensure widespread visibility and engagement with the community. The children's profiles will also appear on Clark County social media channels monthly.
With kids ranging from elementary ages to teens and sibling groups, there is a growing need for foster and adoptive parents in our communities. In response to this pressing issue, Clark County hopes to spread the message that adoption is a rewarding way to grow your family, while empowering children and teens in need to reach their full potential. This Clark County sponsored campaign reflects the County's commitment to building strong, nurturing families, and ensuring a brighter future for its youngest members.
