The 14th annual "Save A Life, Win A MacBook" traffic safety art contest featured more than 300 entries from 29 Clark County Schools, including 9 high schools, 8 middle schools, and 12 elementary schools. Each piece on display addressed what the artist viewed as the most important message about traffic safety. Prior winners have had their art showcased at bus shelters and in-bus advertising displays.
“I am pleased to recognize these young artists for creatively bringing attention to the critical issue of traffic safety,” said Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft. “These art pieces have the power to educate and remind all road users to be aware and cautious when on our streets. I thank the artists for using their talent to highlight such an important issue.”
The artists were awarded individual proclamations at a ceremony hosted by Commissioner Naft. Later, they were recognized at the Clark County Commission meeting by the full Board.

Clark County’s 1 October Memorial Committee kicked off a three-phase process last summer to gather ideas from the public and professional teams for the memorial. The first phase of the process invited the public to submit artwork and ideas for the memorial while calling upon professional design teams to express interest in participating. The second phase began in January when five teams selected by the committee were introduced to the community and began developing formal proposals for the memorial. The teams were asked to review all creative expression submissions received from the public and were encouraged to offer community engagement opportunities during their design process.

Clark County Parks and Recreation Leaders of the Future “Meet your Commissioner and L.O.T.F Conference” was held in the commission chambers on June 29. This was an opportunity for young leaders to meet with their Clark County Commissioner and learn the process of what Clark County Commissioners do. The conference portion consisted of various workshops that included health and life skills as well as academic and leadership development.
Additionally, they were tasked with researching their districts and creating “Community Mapping” that they presented to their commissioner. The Community Mapping aimed at collecting data to create a map of community assets and resources within a defined area. The teens looked for opportunities for growth and awareness from their perspective and made recommendations to the Commissioners.
