What better way to celebrate the beginning of summer than a fun Summer Bash? On June 2nd, families got to enjoy a day of fun with bounce houses, games, food, a petting zoo, face painting, and of course, plenty of swimming! Special thanks to the Desert Breeze Community Center and Desert Breeze Aquatics Facility staff for their collaboration and commitment to every family in Southern Nevada and District F.

On May 13th, Commissioner Jones teamed up with Las Vegas City Councilman Brian Knudsen to host a successful Art in the Park event at Rainbow Family Park. Hundreds of constituents stopped by to enjoy the day, purchase some artisan made goodies, and visit with community partners such as RTC. Thanks to all of the participants and the City of Las Vegas Parks staff for making this event successful.

Team Jones and Clark County Family Services joined the City of Las Vegas in honoring Raise The Future, a local nonprofit in Southern Nevada. Raise The Future has designed and implemented evidence-based, wraparound services that reduce the amount of time youth in foster care live without a permanent family. Their programs increase the likelihood of forming and sustaining positive connections that help to transform their futures. We are fortunate to have them in Nevada and thank them for their collaboration with Clark County every day.

Earlier this month, we were joined by Clark County Public Arts for the art dedication ceremony of “Beat Feet” at Southwest Ridge Park & Trailhead. Artist Matt Babcock unveiled his latest work here in Southern Nevada that has a musical element to it. We’re very fortunate to have more public art in District F. You can check out the art installation at Southwest Ridge Park and Trailhead, located on Grand Canyon Drive and West Ford Avenue near Forbuss Elementary School. |

A fantastic Markers Market was held in Sandy Valley’s Peace Park on May 13th through the support of Commissioner Jones, the Sandy Mesquite Valley Development Authority, Clark County Parks and Rec, and many community volunteers. Attendees were able to get out of the city and enjoy some fresh air, beautiful views, arts, crafts, and a tasty lunch from two food trucks. The artisans presented a wide variety of products including jewelry, home decor, candles, clothing, jams, baked goods, art, wood crafts, photography and more! There were fun activities for kids, too, including a petting zoo, an inflatable obstacle course, and the chance to make their own works of art. It was the first event of this kind in Sandy Valley and it received rave reviews. Stay tuned because plans are in the works for a similar event this fall! |
