May 2023
Dear District G Residents,
Spring is the perfect time for us to get outside and enjoy a variety of community events and activities. At Sunset Park last month, we reopened the renovated Sand Volleyball courts and held the 3rd Annual Commissioner's Cup Pickleball Tournament! Coming up on May 13th, we are holding the Grand Opening of the long awaited Whitney Water Park! The aquatic facility is an impressive addition to our community center and I believe you will agree. Please join me from noon to 4:00pm for live music, free food, giveaways and more! Registration is required so please register by clicking here. There is also more information in the flier below.
The new watering schedule is in effect. From May 1 through Aug. 31, watering restrictions allow watering Monday through Saturday. However, sprinkler irrigation between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. is prohibited. Water your landscape early in the morning, before sunrise, to reduce evaporation caused by wind and heat. Sprinkler watering on Sundays is prohibited. Watering on days other than assigned watering days and watering during restricted hours are considered water waste and may result in a fee. Conservation and water efficiency are critical to meeting Las Vegas’ current and future water needs, so if you don't need to water your landscape daily, you can adjust your watering schedule accordingly.
As always, do not hesitate to email me at DistrictG@clarkcountynv.gov or call my office at (702) 455-3500 with any questions or concerns you may have. You can also follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Hundreds of kids came out on April 29th to Clark County Wetlands Park to enjoy our first annual BioBlast at the Nature Center. There were dozens of science stations, including looking at several native Wetlands species through microscopes, learning about the importance of Wetlands ecosystem and of course, celebrating World Migratory Bird Day!
At a recent Board of County Commissioners meeting, I was honored to recognize the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's first woman Assistant Sheriff, Yasenia "Yaz" Yatomi (in conjunction with Assistant Sheriff Sasha Larkin). With more than 23 years of law enforcement experience, we appreciate Assistant Sheriff Yatomi's hard work and dedication to the citizens of Las Vegas and Clark County.

After several meetings with the volleyball community and many, many months of planning and construction, I am thrilled that the sand volleyball complex at Sunset Park has been renovated and has re-opened! Along with new nets and sand, we have added multiple shade structures throughout the complex, a new water bottle filler, and a new storage building.
On April 15th we held the Grand Reopening with a great turnout on a gorgeous day. To kick off the celebration, we held a tournament between the Metropolitan Police Department and Clark County Fire Department. For the players and attendees, we provided free T-shirts, water bottles and sunglasses as well as free burgers and drinks served by the ever popular In-N-Out Cookout food truck. It's a beautiful complex so if you get a chance, check it out!

Teams competed in the Men's Doubles and Women's Doubles events as well as Mixed Doubles. Thank you to Excel Pickleball and the great Clark County Parks & Recreation Sports staff for putting on such a fantastic tournament.
