The Clark County Office of Community and Economic Development is looking to help small businesses and nonprofits negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Technical and Economic Assistance Program (TEAP) provides grant funding and one-on-one technical assistance to help eligible businesses strengthen and improve operations. Over 50 employers with more than 4,000 positions participated in the Fall Job Fair held at the Sahara West Library on November 17th. Attendees could take advantage of free resume help, interview tips, and on site interviews. Thanks to Workforce Connections and EmployNV for making such a great event available to the community.

There was music, food, vendors, and plenty of tail-wagging fun at Paws In The Park. The event, held on November 12th at Desert Breeze Park, included numerous activities and resources for pets and their owners.

Southern Nevada high school students interested in exploring the challenges and solutions of water sustainability are invited to join the Youth Conservation Council (YCC). The program runs from January through April and includes a mix of weekly in-person and virtual after-school meetings, access to leading experts in various fields of natural resource management, field trips to the Springs Preserve, Las Vegas Wash and the River Mountains Water Treatment Facility, and the planning and hosting of the Springs Preserve Earth Day events. Join Commissioner Jones, LVMPD, Acelero Learning, and the Jeremiah Program for some festive fun at the “A Holiday to Remember” event! This event will be held @ Cashman Park located at 3100 S Warnock Rd 89102 from 11AM-2PM. There will be plenty of FREE food, tons of FREE family fun, resource info and a chance to meet Santa. While you are there, you can also get your flu vaccine. Every child that comes will also receive a free toy.

Looking to keep your kids active during winter break? Winter Day Camps will be available at 8 #ClarkCounty parks! The Clark County Parks & Recreation Program runs December 19-30 for youth ages 6-12. Cost is $21 per day per child

Last week, the Senior Pickleball Tournament was held at Desert Breeze Community Center. The Desert Breeze West Team won the tournament, but the Cora Coleman East Side Team took 2nd & 3rd Place! Thanks to everyone who participated, and special shoutout to the Desert Breeze Community Center staff for always making the Community Center so welcoming.

On November 3rd, Commissioner Jones joined Commissioner Naft and the Public Works team to activate a new traffic signal on South Durango. This will soon be a busy intersection as it is right next to where the new Durango Station Hotel & Casino will be developed.

The Clark County Fire Department's Rural Division recently had their annual awards presentation and Christine Brown received a Lifesaving Award. Christine (on the left in the photo below) is a member of the Sandy Valley Volunteer Fire Department in addition to being a busy wife, mom, and all around amazing part of the community. Congratulations, Christine, on your well-deserved award!
