Dear District G Residents,

It's hard to fathom that 2022 is coming to an end.  We've done a lot of impactful things at the County this year such as participating in community clean-ups, providing affordable housing, holding a very successful Spring Job Fair that brought employment to hundreds of people and providing meals and necessities to those less fortunate than us.  I'm looking forward to seeing what 2023 brings. 

There are a number of family and senior holiday events happening in and around District G, including the cities of Henderson and Boulder City.  Take a look inside this newsletter for more details.

For those that celebrate, I wish you a Happy Hanukkah beginning on December 18, a Merry Christmas on December 25 and a Happy Kwanzaa beginning on December 26.  And of course, a very Happy New Year to all.

Shoes That Fit!

With the help of Shoes That Fit, we gave over 400 pairs of shoes to students at Whitney Elementary School near Tropicana and Boulder Hwy. It was a pleasure meeting so many kids and getting to witness their delight at taking a new pair of Nike shoes home. Thank you to everyone that helped, including the teachers and staff at Whitney Elementary, LVMPD Southeast Area Command, and the Whitney Recreation & Senior Center.   

For those families that need new shoes, both the Whitney Recreation and Paradise Community Centers will be opening shoe closets at their respective centers. Please call 702-455-7576 or 702-455-7513 to see if they have a size that will fit your little one.

New Civil Aviation Training Facility Coming to District G in 2023!

I had the pleasure of touring Southern Nevada's newest full-flight simulator training program for aviation professionals. Located on Sunset Road, just south of Harry Reid International Airport, CAE Pilot offers both airline and business pilot training in both the classroom and what will soon be 8 full-flight simulators. I want to thank Ash and Tony for taking me and my team through their training operation, and I look forward to their grand opening early next year.

Senior Thanksgiving at Whitney Senior Center

Thank you LVMPD SEAC STOP Coalition and Whitney Recreation & Senior Center for helping to host an early Thanksgiving celebration for some very lucky Whitney seniors. I was happy to be part of such a great event!

"Fill The Fire Truck" Holiday Toy Drive

The Clark County Fire Department is partnering with the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation to support the 21st annual “Fill the Fire Truck” holiday toy drive for the first three weeks of December. Starting Dec. 1, the public can drop off new, unwrapped toys or gift cards at any Clark County fire station during business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week through Dec. 18. Rural volunteer fire stations are accepting donations through Friday, Dec. 16. The locations of Clark County fire stations can be found on the Fire Department’s website pages at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov.  Additionally, area fire departments will participate in “Fill-the-Truck” toy drives outside participating Walmart stores starting Dec. 3. Fire engines and volunteer off-duty firefighters from different agencies will be parked outside stores from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday Dec. 3 and 4; Dec. 10 and 11; and Dec. 17 and 18. The list of participating Wal-Mart stores is:  6464 N. Missouri Avenue (East Tropicana and Boulder Highway), strives each month to provide fun, educational, relevant and interesting activities and field trips for our District G kids, families and seniors.
