A large crowd gathered at Silverado Ranch Park, future site of the Silverado Ranch Community Center, for goat yoga. Adults and kids joined in the fun and experienced much more than just a chance to pet goats. You can't help but laugh when you have baby goats walking on backs and jumping from person to person. Alongside the complimentary goat yoga there were food trucks, bounce houses, vendors with County resources, and giveaways. There was even a Clark County Fire truck for families to checkout.
"It was great to see so many people come out to our park to participate in goat yoga", said Commissioner Michael Naft who hosted the gathering in District A. The event was a partnership with the LVMPD Enterprise Area Command and served as an opportunity to meet local police officers, County Parks and Recreation Staff, and neighbors in a fun and relaxing setting.
Jeffry's Farm, who conducted the goat yoga uses the proceeds to provide food for over a hundred shelter animals they have rescued, including a camel. The farm started with one rescued duck named Jeffry.

Commissioner Naft and the West Flamingo Senior Center hosted a field trip to the Government Center on September 20. Participants enjoyed breakfast on the amphitheater balcony, special recognition at the Commission meeting, and a tour of the complex focusing on its history and architecture. This was one of many trips organized by Parks and Recreation which are open to the public.
On September 21, Commissioner Naft moderated a compelling conversation for Jewish Nevada with Michelle and Matthew Marsh. The discussion centered on their background as small business owners who catapulted their business into one of the largest vending machine companies on the west coast. While they operate in many states, they have chosen Clark County and District A as homebase.
On September 29, Naft attended the Uncommons Street Naming Ceremony. Ruby Duncan, Rozita Lee, Tom Rodriguez, Helen Anderson Toland, and Michael Cherry all had streets named for them.
District A celebrated the opening of Clark County's first Pizza Twist location, an Indian Pizza restaurant located in Silverado Ranch.

From September 23-25 District A held a "Searchlight Neighborhood Cleanup" in partnership with the Searchlight Betterment Organization. Four large dumpsters were filled with debris that was littering our beautiful desert. "I am so grateful to all who came out to help to their part to help cleanup our public lands", said Commissioner Naft.
On September 28 "Coffee with a Cop" was held in at the Spirit Mountain Activity Center in Laughlin. LVMPD was on hand to provide crime prevention tips and assistance as well as answer any law enforcement questions. Mark Moskowitz, liaison to Laughlin for District A provided updates and opportunities for available programs.

October is Fire Prevention Month, and the Clark County Fire Department is reminding residents to have a home fire escape plan and working smoke alarms in the event of an emergency.
“Fire Prevention Month is a good time of year to remind people of important safety information that can protect your family and save lives,” said Clark County Fire Chief John Steinbeck. “Every home should have working smoke detectors, and every family should develop a household fire escape plan and practice it on a regular basis.”
This year’s theme for Fire Prevention Month, which includes Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 9 to Oct. 15, is “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.” Officials say if a fire breaks out, residents may have only a few minutes to get out safely once the smoke alarm sounds. It’s critical for everyone in a household to know what to do and where to go if there’s a fire. Visit the Fire Department’s website pages at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov for a variety of safety tips. The following information is recommended:
- Make a home escape plan that identifies all possible exits and escape routes in your home. Ideally, there are two ways out of each room.
- Make sure doors and windows leading outside can open easily.
- Smoke alarms more than 10 years old need to be replaced.
- Test smoke alarms at least once a month using the test button; replace immediately if they don’t respond properly when tested.
- Portable fire extinguishers should be used when a fire is confined to a small area and is not growing. The primary element of a fire response plan is to escape safely and call 911.
