Dear District E Residents,
Summer is right around the corner, and we've already been really busy in District E. This month's newsletter highlights some of the events that we've had and ones that are to come. There are activities for kids and for families to participate in. So if you and your family are available, please come out and join us. We would love to see you there.
In this month's newsletter, there are a number of helpful and interesting articles available including Back-to-School vaccination information, RTC Summer Heat 2022 (beating the heat), and programming at the recreation centers throughout the District. Also with the Fourth of July holiday upon us, be sure to read the "Safe and Sane" article which provides really helpful information on keeping our neighborhoods safe.
I hope you find this edition of the June 2022 newsletter informative and interesting. As always, please feel free to email me at DistrictE@ClarkCountynv.gov or call my office at (702) 455-3500 with any questions or concerns you may have.
Stay safe,
~Tick

Thank you to everyone who participated in Rerooting Winchester! There was live music, vegetable planting demonstrations, free food and more. A special thank you to Irma Varela and her staff at Winchester Dondero Cultural Center and Lisa Ortega aka "the tree lady." The event was a huge success.
For many local students, school is not our for the summer, so please be sure to exercise additional caution as you drive through school zones and crosswalks. Drive the posted speed limits when the flashers are activated. Many children are expanding their academic this summer, and we want them to be safe. Motorists are advised to watch for children near the schools and obey traffic signals and signage. School zones are in effect at area schools this summer to assist students while they are attending the Clark County School District's (CCSD) Summer Acceleration Program. Summer School will be in session from May 31 through June 17 and June 23 through July 19.

The use of illegal fireworks in neighborhoods over the Fourth of July holiday has been a growing problem in the Las Vegas Valley that Clark County and partnering agencies are asking for the public's help and cooperation to address.
Fireworks labeled "safe and sane" are the only type of consumer fireworks allowed in Clark County and only from June 28 through July 4 when nonprofit groups are allowed to sell them for fundraising purposes at locally licensed and inspected stands. Residents who want to see large fireworks displays are encouraged to enjoy professional shows hosted at various venues around the community with oversight from area jurisdictions. Officials caution that even approved "safe and sane" fireworks can cause fires and injuries and should only be used with adult supervision. Additionally, no fireworks of any kind, even the "safe and sane" type are not allowed in local parks or on public lands in the region including Mount Charleston, Lake Mead and Red Rock Canyon. Fire are a year-round concern in Southern Nevada.
Starting this year, offenders caught using illegal fireworks in Clark County will face an increased minimum fine of $500, up from $250. The legislation allows for fines of up to $10,000 for large amounts of illegal fireworks found within the community.
Beginning July 1, students enrolled in the 12th grade in Nevada public, private, or charter schools must receive the meningococcal vaccine (MenACCWY) prior to the start of the 2022-23 school year. MenACWY is also required for students entering the 7th grade and for students entering the 8th through 12th grades who are new to Nevada schools, including private or charter schools, and the Clark County School District. In addition, 7th graders must receive their tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis(Tdap) vaccine.

The Vegas heat is coming, and we are here to help you keep cool this summer!
As Las Vegas hits trip-digit temperatures, we know many of our riders must brace the heat for extended periods, especially in times of delayed service. While our contractors turn up the heat on driver recruitment, we want to make sure our riders have the resources necessary to #KeepCoolLV.
