Clark County Parks & Rec had a great Tacos & Tamales Festival in Desert Breeze Park! Commissioner Jones and his team had a booth where they gave our Clark County swag and beverages. It was great to see ACDC at the event registering folks to vote!
As Chair of the Springs Preserve Board of Trustees, Commissioner Jones was grateful to join Councilman Brian Knudsen at their recognition ceremony as Springs Preserve received the NFL Draft Community Greening Grant. This fund will fund the installation of water-smart landscaping in their Teaching Garden. NFL Green will also be funding the planting of more than 5,000 trees in Southern Nevada.

Commissioner Jones co-hosted a Neighborhood Block Party that was held at the Historical Sections 10 & 11! It was great to see neighbors come together and meet their elected officials as they advocate on issues important to their community. Thank you to Congresswoman Susie Lee, Senators Schieble and Brooks, Assemblywomen Rochelle Nguyen and Tracy Brown-May, and Trustee Ford for supporting the event. And thank you to Yvette Williams for being a great co-host! |
Commissioner Jones celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week by dropping off bagels at Wright and Berkley Elementry Schools. It was a small thank you to the teachers and staff who go above and beyond each day to empower the next generation of leaders. We’re so grateful for the continued partnerships we have with schools in District F as we share information and resources with one another.
Commissioner Jones and Commissioner Naft had a great visit at the Clark County Building Department on "Take Your Child to Work Day". The kids got to see the hard work their parents are doing to keep out community safe.
Commisisoner Jones and the District F Team joined forces with Shoes That Fit, Zappos, and Metro's Spring Valley Area Command to bring a day of fun and surpises to the kids at the Boys and Girls Club. The kids received new shoes, clothing and got to play games and participate in games and activities. All kids deserve to have high self-esteem and confidence from the clothes and shoes they’re wearing. This year's National Foster Care month theme focuses on, “Relative and Kin Connections: Keeping Families Strong.” Every child deserves to keep the meaningful connections they have with family and community when possible. In many cultures, the “village” approach has been a longstanding value, and extended family is important to the development of children who feel surrounded by love and the continuation of cultural traditions. Visit the DFS website to find out how you can help the 3,000+ kids in foster care in Clark County. |

Barry and June Gunderson are a true CCSD lifetime love story. They met in the Principal's office at Clark High School, went to the University of Arizona together, and returned to Las Vegas to work for the Clark County School District. When they retired in 2002, Barry was the Principal at Las Vegas High School and June was the Principal at Cram Middle School. In recognition of their 28 years of service and dedication to the students of Clark County, the first Middle School in Southern Highlands was named in their honor. Gunderson Middle School opened in August 2021, but the dedication ceremony was held last month. Commissioner Jones is a proud Gunderson Grizzly dad, where his son is a student!
