It’s that time of year when we celebrate having Winter, Spring and Summer all in the same week (and occasionally in the same day!). As you search through your closet for the right thing to wear, consider donating new and gently used items to a worthy charity. Here are a few options: https://redrock.clarkcountynv.gov/meaningfulchangelv/donate-items.html
As always, please feel free to contact me and my team by phone at (702) 455-3500 or by email at ccdistf@clarkcountynv.gov. You can also follow me @JustinJonesNV on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the latest events in the District.

In recognition of Women's History Month, Commissioner Jones celebrated the contributions of 3 very special District F residents.
Brittney Miller is a middle school teacher and represents Assembly District 5 as the first Lebanese and Black American in the Nevada Legislature.
Electra Smith is an Administrative Professional at Sandy Valley School, the CAC Secretary, and runs Santa’s Sleigh, a non-profit that collects toys for children in Sandy Valley.
Edelweiss Solano serves the AAPI community and newly-arrived immigrants as the Director of Family Services @ Asian Community Development Council such as Health Navigator, Citizenship and Tax-Aide programs.
At the February 15th Board of County Commissioners meeting, the Olympic swimmers from the Sandpipers Swim Club were presented proclamations in honor of their achievements. Bowe Becker, Erica Sullivan, Bella Sims, and Katie Grimes all competed in the 2021 Tokyo Summer Games and brought home one gold medal, 2 silvers, and a 4th place finish. The pool at Desert Breeze is one of their practice locations, so they are definitely District F hometown heroes.
Commissioner Jones presented a proclamation to the Clark County Black Caucus at their Anniversary Celebration commemorating 15 years of advocacy for equality and opportunity for the African American community.

The 2,000 residents of Clark County no longer have to drive into the city to get gas - they now have their own gas station! And, not only is it the first one in Sandy Valley, it is the first of its kind in the United States. While above-ground tank gas stations are used in many places such as airports, this is the first location which sells retail to the public. The above ground tank reduces the risk of soil and water contamination and offers flexibility in the type and amount of gas it contains.
At the end of the Great Depression, Nevada's mines were in decline, the economy was in shambles, and residents were leaving by droves. In an attempt to lift the state out of the hard times, the Nevada State Legislature voted to legalize gambling on March 19, 1931. It was a drastic decision, but one that has shaped our community to this day.
