Since 1985, people across the country have celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to raise awareness of the essential services that parks and recreation provide to communities, and to recognize the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals who work along with hundreds of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers to maintain our country’s local, state and community parks. Throughout July, Henderson is inviting the community to explore our many parks and share their experiences, memories and stories about what parks and recreation mean to them as well as why their local park and recreation professionals are important with the hashtag #OurParkAndRecStory. If you need help getting started, check out the City’s website listing 31 ways to celebrate Park and Recreation Month.
