July 2021
Hello Neighbors!
Hope you all had a fun and safe Fourth of July! As we celebrate our independence, let’s remember the wise words of Thomas Jefferson: "Whenever you do something, act as if all the world were watching." The world is watching Las Vegas right now – let’s be an example and get everyone vaccinated so we can stay open!
As always, please feel free to contact me and my team by phone at (702) 455-3500 or by email at ccdistf@clarkcountynv.gov. You can also follow me @JustinJonesNV on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the latest events in the District.

Ranked by USA Swimming as the #3 swim club in the United States, the Sandpipers of Nevada has been creating champion swimmers since 1968. With an average membership of 450, the Sandpipers offer 25 different groups to meet the needs of all levels of swimmers. This year, four Sandpipers swimmers, Bowe Becker, Katie Grimes, Bella Sims, and Erica Sullivan, are headed to the Summer Olympics in Japan. District F's own Desert Breeze Community Center has been the training facility for the club for years, and the Olympians will be training there until they head to Japan. Good luck, swimmers - we are so proud of you!

The first week of July is important not only to the history of our Country - but also to the history of our County! Clark County officially became a County as of July 1, 1909 and the 3 appointed County Commissioners held their first Commission Meeting on July 3rd. During the meeting they appointed a number of officials including the Sheriff, Treasurer, and District Attorney; discussed negotiations with Lincoln County to continue jailing their inmates; and directed the Clerk to order the stationary.
The birth of the new County was celebrated at an event on July 5th with music, speakers, sports, races, fireworks, and a ball where the crowd "tripped the light fantastic until a late hour."
